Asked for bribe
Thanks for the invaluable advice you’ve been giving. I have a question too, and here it is:
How do I deal with a situation in which I’m being offered a VERY attractive position on condition that I bribe the interviewing panellists?
It looks like the same demands have been made to the other five candidates vying for the same position. If I get the job, I’d be new to the organization. I’m not sure if the other candidates are also new or have been with the organization.
As a matter of principle, I am totally against the idea of getting a job this way. Is there a means of dribbling past this hurdle?
Catch 22! Intriguing!!
In my opinion, it is highly likely that this is a test. They are looking for someone who will not use bribery to run the organisation, so this is a self-selecting mechanism. If you offer the bribe you are out.
Or else they are completely corrupt and will collect six sets of bribes and none of you get the job.
Or one of you! I don’t know.
Since you are against the idea in principle, then there is no question about what you should do. Refuse, and see what happens next.
I’d love to know the outcome. Very best of Luck
