Promoted but does not have a new contract
I am 29 years old, studying for a Masters in Finance.
I Have been working for 4 years in the same company and in January of 2017 I was indicated to the senior financial position.
During the last 6 months, my managers are happy with my work, but I didn’t get any formal letter or revised contract for the position.
What concerns me is the fact that I have discussed this with my line manager and he said that will see to it during the last month, and nothing has changed.
I went to our HR manager and he said that the company doesn’t have a policy and they are revising some procedures.
I am frustrated and need help
I’m not sure exactly what the problem is here.
What do you mean by was indicated to the senior financial position? Is this dependent on achieving your Masters? Is this effectively a trial period?
Are you waiting for a formal letter or revised contract for the position, or are you actually waiting for a salary increase which isn’t forthcoming?
You haven’t said so, and if that is the case, have you asked your manager for a salary increase? Because if you haven’t, you certainly won’t get one.
Why do you need the revised contract -will it change your benefits and salary package?
That being said, if the HR manager is correct, then it does take some time to revise policies and procedures. They will probably not revise one policy in isolation, they will all be looked at together.
Ask your manager for a commitment that any revision will be backdated to the effective date of your promotion, or perhaps given to you as a one – off bonus payment.
